An assistant coach for the Denver Broncos is facing a felony assault charge after being accused of punching a police officer in the face at the Denver International Airport. Outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a police officer and booked into the Denver jail on Sunday, according to jail records. A judge set a $5,000 bond on Monday.

The Las Vegas Raiders re-signed safety Isaiah Pola-Mao on Monday. He came on strong after getting a starting role last season. Pola-Mao was an undrafted free agent in 2022. He comes off his best season with careers highs in tackles (85) and passed defended (six). He was the AFC defensive player of the week in Week 16 after making nine tackles and forcing two fumbles in a 19-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pola-Mao stepped into the starting job after Marcus Epps suffered a season-ending torn ACL three games into the season.

The hopes of many NFL teams will start taking shape this week as the league’s annual scouting combine begins in Indianapolis. As usual, there's plenty to debate. There doesn’t appear to be a clear-cut No. 1 overall pick or a top quarterback yet. Scouts are still trying to determine whether Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter would be more productive as a shutdown cornerback, a playmaking receiver or both. And with 329 players arriving starting Tuesday, teams will be looking to get answers to some of their biggest questions.

Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter is creating a distinctly different atmosphere as this year's NFL scouting combine begins. Yes, he's coming to Indianapolis listed as a defensive back. But some also consider the former Colorado star the best receiver in this year's draft class. And he could work out at both positions this week, making him the most intriguing two-way prospect in combine history. The question is where does he fit best and will he work out at either or both positions this week.

The Carolina Panthers are moving on from longtime linebacker Shaq Thompson. The Panthers informed Thompson, who is an unrestricted free agent, that they will not be re-signing him. Thompson is expected to pursue other options in free agency. The 30-year-old has been with the Panthers for a decade, but has been limited to just six games over the last two seasons because of injuries. He was the team’s first-round pick in 2014 and ranks fourth in team history with 752 tackles, behind only Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly and Mike Minter. Thompson appeared in 123 games in his 10 seasons with Carolina.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Keanu Neal has called it a career. Neal took to Instagram to announce his retirement from the NFL. He did not play in the NFL in 2024 after the Steelers released him with a failed physical designation in March.
