SPRING GROVE — In a weekend of dominating performances — performances that, at least for this weekend, removed any doubt that wrestlers from historically Class 2A programs couldn’t compete at the 3A level — Manheim Central senior Brodie Daugherty stood out.

HARRISBURG — The milestone accomplishment by Northern Lebanon wrestler Aaron Seidel at Central Dauphin East on Saturday had been expected for almost a year.

SPRING GROVE — The first day of a multi-day wrestling tournament is a grind, doubly so when the tournament is the Class 3A District Three/Southcentral Region tournament.

The first thing you notice is the word on the singlet.

The District Three Class 2A wrestling championships kick off Saturday at Central Dauphin East High School at 9 a.m.

To say Kaleia Timko decided to start wrestling in eighth grade isn’t quite right. She was dragged into it.

On Friday morning, 208 wrestlers will gather at Spring Grove High School for the start of the District Three/PIAA South Central Region Class 3A Championships. By the end of the event Saturday, the season will be over for 143 of them.

SHILLINGTON — Elco’s Zane Trostle immediately walked off the mat and pointed to his father in the stands. It was just the second time he did something like that. The first was when he scored his first touchdown.

Hempfield freshman Joey Gallo brought a solid resume to his first varsity season, winning multiple PJW tournaments as a youth wrestler and being a two-time Elizabethtown Optimist Tournament finalist in junior high, including winning a title as a seventh-grader.

HARRISBURG — It’s one thing to recover from two injuries. It’s another to recover from two injuries and come back as strong as before.
