Andy Amway, the former longtime coach of tennis, swimming and cross country at Hempfield High School, died Tuesday at Trillium Place by Tandem Living in Manheim Township, where he had been staying after recently finishing a bout with cancer.
Manheim Township returned to the top of the Lancaster-Lebanon League and District Three, highlighting this year’s high school girls tennis season.
The girls tennis season for Lancaster-Lebanon League players came to an end Friday at the PIAA singles and doubles championships at Hershey Racquet Club.
When: Friday and Saturday.
No Lancaster-Lebanon League girls tennis teams will be competing in today’s PIAA tournament semifinals after Lancaster Country Day fell to North Catholic 3-1 in Friday’s Class 2A quarterfinals at Hershey Racquet Club.
The scholastic girls tennis season continued Tuesday with the opening round of the PIAA team tournament. Of three Lancaster County entries, however, only one made it to the quarterfinal round.
