A Providence Township man convicted of robbery 25 years ago faces new charges after police found a cache of guns in his home that he was not allowed to own.
Pennsylvania State Police charged Ronald Laughman Jr., 43, of Truce Road, with 11 counts of illegal possession of a firearm after getting a warrant to search his home on Jan. 22.
According to charging documents, Laughman’s daughter told police he had the weapons, and Laughman admitted to it in a subsequent interview.
Laughman allowed police to enter his house to retrieve the weapons, according to court documents. Police seized four shotguns, six handguns and an antique machine gun, and they charged Laughman the same day.
When he was 18, Laughman was sentenced to up to 23 months in prison for punching a man and taking his radio in November 1999, according to LNP | LancasterOnline archives and court documents. He pleaded guilty to charges of terroristic threats and felony robbery. As a result of that conviction, he is prohibited from owning guns.
Laughman is free on $25,000 unsecured bail. His next hearing has not been scheduled.
