A longtime Lancaster optician who sold his business three years ago will be returning to the job by opening a small optician shop in Lancaster city.
Jim Albright, the former owner of Albright Opticians, will open Framed by James, a small, one-person shop in Lancaster city. Framed by James will occupy a spot at 301 E. Chestnut St. where Albright will fill customers’ prescriptions for glasses and set up their frames.
Framed by James, which debuts March 18, will display around 200 frames in a wide variety of styles, with other frames available for ordering. It will be open by appointment Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and won’t take insurance or credit cards.
In January 2022, Albright sold Albright Opticians, which continues to operate in Manheim Township at 29 Keller Ave.
Albright, who is 73 years old, said he is returning with a scaled-down version of his former shop because he found that he missed interacting with customers.
“I’m doing it because I sold the business and retired three years ago. First year of retirement was fun, but now I’m bored,” he said.
