Fire companies from around central Pennsylvania, including multiple Lancaster County units, paid tribute to West York Borough police officer Andrew Duarte Monday morning with a procession organized by the Lancaster County Fire Chiefs Association as his body was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Per Penn Live, the procession left the York County Coroner's office between 7 and 7:15 a.m., traveling east on Route 30 to Route 222. An autopsy was scheduled for later in the day Monday.
Duarte was killed Saturday at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York while engaging with a gunman who had taken staff hostage.
West York Borough has set up a fundraiser for the Duarte family, which you can view at this link.
