Lancaster County’s mud sale season got underway Friday with likely frozen— rather than soggy — ground underfoot, the temperature barely cresting above freezing that day, according to Millersville University Weather Information Center records.
Continuing into Saturday, the annual fundraiser benefiting Strasburg Fire Company was held on the firehouse grounds on West Franklin Street, with goods ranging from quilts to bicycles to buggies up for bids. The sales are often the biggest fundraisers for local nonprofits, mainly community fire companies.
