This is regarding U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker’s column, “Fiscal reform starts now: The case for Musk’s effort,” in the Feb. 16 Sunday LNP | LancasterOnline.

Smucker misses an obvious point when thanking an unelected billionaire for curtailing government spending: Billionaires will never have a working person’s back.

Elon Musk seemingly seeks to enrich his already gluttonous pockets by diverting social funding that benefits poor and working Americans. Apparently, the more than $20 billion in taxpayer-funded subsidies that he’s received from our government are not enough. He seemingly wants unaccountable and irresponsible access to our kids’ school funding, our national park funding, and our tax and bank records. And control over our most essential services.

If Smucker and President Donald Trump truly care about working Americans, it’s time to turn their eyes to the billions that Musk has pocketed over the years and the billions sent to Israel as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to bomb kids and elderly people on our dollar. Smucker needs to start having the backs of Americans who just want a decent life — or he needs to let someone who actually cares about working Americans have his seat in Congress.
