William H. McMichael, III, 76 of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly at home on February 20, 2025. Born in Lancaster on September 1, 1948, he was the son of the late William H., Jr. and Louella Hansen McMichael.
Bill graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School, class of 1966. After graduation from high school, Bill was a crop farmer, then had a mowing business and small engine repair service. Bill, being known as Lancaster Citys most notorious landlord, was a self-educated real estate investor. Often being ridiculed by many public officials, Bills ability to defend himself perturbed them even more. A calm, kind and quiet man, Bill made it possible for many to become homeowners by offering installment sales to his tenants. A very versatile collector, often known as a hoarder, Bill loved and enjoyed attending public auctions. Bills mornings were often spent at the local Burger King or McDonalds, enjoying coffee and reading the newspaper for free.
Bill is survived by his brother, Benjamin A. McMichael of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Connie McMichael and nephews, Benjamin, Jonathan, Christopher and Jeremy. He will be missed by his many friends that he saw on a daily basis. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Barry H. McMichael.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bills funeral service on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 4PM from the Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 317 E.
