Donald Leroy Kemper, age 89, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Newport Meadows, Christiana. Born in Mengas Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Maybelle Shetter Kemper. Donald started dating Gloria Fuhrman in the 9th grade and they married 5 years later on July 10, 1954.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. A graduate of Williamson Trade School, he worked as an electrician for PECO. He was a member of the Wakefield Lions Club. Donald loved to invest in the lives of others, serving as a Leader of Cub Scout Pack 120 and Boy Scout Troop 40. He also enjoyed bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 children: Keith Edward, husband of Ellen Schmuck Kemper of Peach Bottom, Joy Ann Kemper of Quarryville, Kevin Daniel Kemper of New Providence, Michele Ann wife of John Eager of Quarryville, 8 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ogg.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville with a time to greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service. Private inurnment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover, PA.
