Rawlinsville Mud Sale

An Amish volunteer tries to keep a bidding war going during a crafts auction at the 2024 Rawlinsville Fire Company mud sale. This year's sales start Feb. 21 in Strasburg.

Snow may be in the forecast, but it’s almost time for mud.

Auctioneers will kick off Lancaster County’s mud sales at the Strasburg Spring Sale on Friday, Feb. 21.

These sales are often the biggest fundraisers for nonprofits, mainly community fire companies.

These events serve as community gatherings. Each one’s a chance to both donate things you don’t want and find a deal. Plus, every sale has plenty of food.

If you’re a newcomer, Lisa Campbell says, don’t be intimidated. She’s helping promote the Hand-in-Hand Fire Company’s Lancaster County Carriage and Antique Auction in June.

“It’s an auction for everyone,” she says.

Here’s a calendar of mud sales in the region.
