Former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin is reuniting with Bill O’Brien.
McGloin is joining O’Brien’s coaching staff at Boston College as an offensive analyst, according to a Monday night report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
McGloin was Penn State’s starting quarterback in 2012, O’Brien’s first of two seasons as the Nittany Lions' head coach.
Penn State went 8-4 in 2012. The team was lauded for its leadership amid heavy sanctions related to the Jerry Sandusky scandal. McGloin threw for 3,271 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2012 under the tutelage of O’Brien, the former New England Patriots' offensive coordinator.
McGloin finished his collegiate career with 6,390 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes. Both of those figures rank fifth all-time at Penn State.
McGloin spent four seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders from 2013-16. He later became a politician. Over the weekend, it was reported by the Scranton Times-Tribune that McGloin would be resigning from his post as Lackawanna County Democratic Commissioner.
McGloin will now join O’Brien in his second season at Boston College. The Boston native went 7-6 in his first year with the Eagles in 2024.
