Fulton Township sign.

When: Fulton Twp. Board of Supervisors meeting, Nov. 7. Supervisor Mike Church was absent.

What happened: Supervisors passed a 2025 draft budget, which excludes a donation to the Quarryville Library for the second year in a row.

Background: Before 2024, the township had given the library an annual donation of $1,000. Last year, supervisors cut the donation because they said the library provides access to LGBTQ+ materials that do not reflect the values of the township’s residents.

Budget details: The preliminary budget has total revenue of $567,938 and expenses of $708,977. The budget is balanced by use of financial reserves with no increase in the real estate tax rate. The proposed expenditures for the coming year are about 10% higher than the 2024 total budget figure of $639,853.

More: Most line items remain constant from this year to next. There is an increase from $50,000 to $75,000 for a truck purchase, and ambulance company contributions increase from $5,000 to $10,000. The township increased the budget allocation for tools and machinery repairs from $14,000 to $22,000.

Tax rate: The tax rate of 0.42 mills remains unchanged. For owners of a property assessed at $100,000, the tax bill is $42 per year.

What’s next: The budget will come back to the board for final adoption in December.
